MindTrial ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that adds a learning-tracker sidebar to chatgpt.com. This policy explains what data MindTrial handles and where it goes.
Your learning threads, topics, progress, and settings are stored using your browser's
localStorage, scoped to chatgpt.com. This data never leaves your device except as
described under "AI topic generation" below. It is not visible to us — we have no server-side
database and no way to read it. It is deleted if you clear chatgpt.com site data or remove the
extension.
We do not use accounts, sign-in, cookies, or analytics/tracking of any kind.
If you use the "generate topics from transcript" feature, the text you submit is sent from your
browser to our backend (https://mindtrial.onrender.com), which forwards it to Groq's API
(currently llama-3.3-70b-versatile) to produce a topic list, and returns the result to
your browser.
What's sent: only the transcript text you submit for that one request.
What our backend does with it: nothing beyond forwarding the request and returning the response. Our backend has no database and does not write request content to disk. On an upstream error, we log the error message only — never the transcript itself.
Third party: Groq processes this text to generate the response. See Groq's privacy policy for how they handle API data.
Hosting: the backend runs on Render. Render may retain standard infrastructure-level access logs (e.g. IP, timestamp, endpoint) under their own policy; we do not configure or query request-body logging. See Render's privacy policy.
Retention on our side: none. The transcript exists only in memory for the duration of that single request.
This feature only runs when you explicitly trigger it — it is not automatic.
We don't sell or share your data with advertisers. We don't track you across sites. We don't require or collect any account or personal-identity information.
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and, for material changes, we'll update the Chrome Web Store listing accordingly.
